Better than expected
Do to some issues with wiring I could not install a traditional surround sound system in my family room. I was highly skeptical of the soundbar for two reasons. 1) one wall was mostly glass, the other open to the foyer. 2) the space in my bookshelf only allowed for the 42 inch and not the 50 inch soundbar. All I can say is WOW!!! My family room is 16 x 18 with the above mentioned challenges and the DT rocks. Combined with a Denon 3808ci receiver and the DT 800 sub it gives a very impressive sound quality. The biggest issues I have so far are on some movies it can be hard to hear the voices, and the system is at its best when you crank it up. Not the best situation late at night when the Mrs. is trying to sleep up stairs.Although you cannot match a good traditional 5.1 system with a soundbar the DT is at the top of the class of this technology. You get what you pay for and the DT shines.

SSA-42
Solid construction, very appealing design, I am still tweaking the receiver settings to optimize sound. The sound is a little dull with standard Denon equalizer configuration.

excellent quality
I ordered this speaker on the recommendation of a home theater guru. Amazing that amazon sells this speaker in black for $1000 and silver is like half the price. Supply and demand... The grill is black anyway and the silver while great looking is barely visible in my application. This is one hell of a speaker. i have always bought Polk and boston acoustics and these are great speakers. This however, is in a class above. Very crisp sound. I am currently using it with an additional set of rear speakers and a sub. Once the amp was calibrated and all the levels were set appropriately for the speaker positions this speaker really shined. The sound is very full and clear. The construction of this speaker is also exceptional. Full cast aluminum body you can just tell it is high quality. The only down side i would say is the packaging from the factory, not amazon. Because of the weight of this speaker it could have benefitted from more insulation, mine arrived with slight damage...

A High-End Bargain!
In our house now I couldn't really do a real 5.1 set up so I researched this Single Speaker Array and was pleased enough with the reviews on home theater sites to let this be in my final choice category. Being a 50% off sale sealed the deal. It turned out to be an awesome choice! I bought this for TV and movie watching.First of all this speaker is well made. It is clean and solid. It is also really heavy, heavier than I expected. The casing is metal and has a soft brushed look. The speaker cover is tight and smooth the whole way through. The mounting system is simple but strong, and the additional parts for it to stand on it's own uses the wall mount and makes it so you can adjust it to point where you need it to, make it level without scratching up anything.As mentioned by someone before, if you can do a real surround sound setup then do it, but if you can't this would work great. It tricks your ear by using L/C/R+RL/RR channels. You will have to run all five...

Great sound and looks
Definitive's Mythos SSA-50 has great sound and looks but not great surround sound. If surround sound is your overriding concern, stick with traditional SS speakers. For those of us who want more simplicity in our home theater speakers, setup is a breeze. The SSA-50 provides clear dialog and very good quality music and effects. Although the sound does not wrap quite enough to give a true sense of surround sound, it does provide a very broad sound stage. My home theater room measures 26 feet in width and the SSA-50 provides a sense of sound across all 26 feet. I have it paired with a Sony KDL46W4100 and find the match is nearly perfect, although Definitive markets the SSA-50 for 50 inch and larger flat panel TVs. My TV is mounted in a shallow black cabinet and the speaker sits on a shelf directly below the TV. The speaker virtually disappears into the background. You do need a subwoofer for deep bass. Stereo listening from CDs is excellent.

Crisp and clean, no caffeine
Phenominal sound. I am not impressed with the other DT offerings, but interestingly, these are the best sounding surrounds I have ever heard - better than B&W and others much more expensive. I recommend getting 3 voice-matched front speakers for your HT, then these for the surrounds.

Great looking and sounding speakers...worth the price
I looked for many satelite speakers before deciding on these. The Mythos series have great reviews from hi-fi magazines and the sound has not disappointed me. I'm not an audiophile but I do notice the difference between low and high quality speakers. (I own Onyko and B&W equipment as well)The best part is the looks. They are a very sleak and not too large.

Good on-wall surrounds
I purchased two Mythos Gem XLs as the surrounds for a speaker setup that has 3 Mythos Tens as front left/right/center and a SuperCube I for subwoofer. You can read my review of the Mythos Tens for a full account of the system.Voice-match to the main speakers is very good. Incuded mounting bracket is simple and secure (keyhole slot on bracket into which a machine screw on the speaker fits) but does not pivot in any way.The sepcs on frequency response given by the manufacturer are misleading. There is no usable bass below about 80 Hz at the lowest, the frequency at which I crossover to the sub. If I were using these as main speakers, I might crossover even higher.Would be a 5-star review if not for price, which I found a bit steep (but paid anyway).

Excellent, crystal clear sound, beautiful, well built speaker!
I've always been a huge audio fanatic and borderline audiophile to the best of my ability. I don't have tons of free time to devote to my audio facination as I work as much as 55 hours per week but I do devote a big chunk of my free time to listening to music and watching Blurays.I am using a Pioneer VSX-9040TXH receiver with 110 watts per channel which I have also reviewed on Amazon. It is a phenomenal mid-grade receiver around the $500 mark with excellent sound quality. I would highly recommend using at least a good mid-grade receiver with these speakers. Before I bought three Mythos Eights for my L,C,R channels, I owned the Energy Take Classic 5.1 speaker system which is somewhere around $400 for the complete package. I really loved my Energy's and I still do think they are probably one of the best speaker packages in the $400 price range. I was very worried when I ordered the Mythos Eight's without hearing them that they would sound about the same or even possibly...

Superb sound
I am very pleased with imaging and depth of sound. I combined Mythos 1 and 6 for front, Mythos 5s and Mission omnipolars for rear. Adcom amp for front, Hafler for the rear. Previous speakers were Infinity Kappas. The Mythos are asethetic and sound musical. Also great for cinema. No complaints. Worth the price.

Not bad at all.
I bought the Mythos 8 to upgrade my existing system. The old system used the Synergy speakers from Klipsch for the center, rear surround, and front effect speakers. The Mythos 8 is noticeably more efficient and has a wider range as well. This unit works quite well as a center channel speaker, but it would be too harsh and it would lack the low-end punch to serve as a main. Its not fully broken in yet, but I do sense a growing clarity at the low end after about 20 hours of use.The front panel is dark gray and the aluminum body can stand out if it does not match the rest of the system. However, since it is mounted behind and above the screen, this is not really an issue. Accepting this finish reduces the price considerably, and even if you have black speakers for the rest of the system, you can replace the front cover with a black one to blend in if n eeded.
